Good things come from stressful timesThis website is a product of a course, CTL1799, taught by Selia Karsten. In deciding my topic for this course assignment, I found myself having trouble finding something I felt passionate enough to create something authentic that I was comfortable sharing. I've struggled to keep up with life, work, and school (especially difficult in the middle of the summer). Last year, I took time off of work in order to go back to school and complete my Masters degree in Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Before this, I was teaching and working a part-time job. Now, I'm in school full-time and still working (much less), but have learned to make time for myself.

I realized that this website was what I needed - a centralized place to go to get ideas on what to do. When we’re busy, it’s easy to forget to slow down, but difficult to actually do so. This, I thought, was a great idea - everyone needs to destress every once in awhile, to be mindful of themselves. But these resources are already online - though maybe not centralized - and so I thought of integrating something I’ve always been passionate about - the environment. And that was the seed for this site - taking care of yourself while taking care of the environment.
Although not all resources are aimed at helping the environment, most pages incorporate ways of taking care of your mind and the world around you. My hope is that these ideas that have helped me manage stress help you, as well - whether you’re also a student at OISE, a teacher, or just someone who needs to take some time for themselves.
Enjoy!
Note: I actually worked on this website while taking a short break from the city life. As I write this, waves are crashing onto the shore and I'm surrounded by nature. Sometimes, there's no replacement for a break - and sometimes we just can't take one. From me to you, wishing you all the best on your journey to wellbeing.
